How we will test
No freebies, no sponsored placements, no exceptions -- that is our policy when hands-on testing begins.
We will buy it ourselves
Every product will be purchased at retail, anonymously. Brands will not be able to pay for coverage or a better score.
Real pets, real homes
A minimum of 30 days of hands-on testing with dogs and cats of different sizes, ages, and temperaments.
We will score on what matters
Durability, safety, ease of cleaning, and value — weighted by category, published in every review.
We will update or retract
Products change. We will re-test top picks yearly and pull recommendations that no longer hold up.
